GP DR CLAIRE GODWIN

Dr. Claire Godwin graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Cape Town. She then returned to Johannesburg to complete her internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

The next challenge was Leratong Hospital where she stayed on after community service in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It was during this time that she developed her passion for women's health and completed her post graduate diploma in obstetrics.

Following this she moved into general practice to pursue her dream of providing quality health care to her patients as well as to bridge the gap between general practice and gynaecology.

GP DR CLAIRE CASTELYN

Dr Claire Castelyn is a family GP practicing at Premier Health Center since 2017. She is dedicated to providing exceptional medical care to your family members.

Key attributes of Dr Castelyn's approach to her care are empathy, good communication, and understanding of her patient's needs. She strives to provide patient-centered holistic healthcare to the whole family.

Dr Castelyn has a special interest in Paediatrics. She is a lifelong learner, having completed her degree through UCT and further earned a diploma in paediatrics and allergies. She is currently pursuing her Master's in Family Medicine through the University of Buckingham.

Dr Megan Snyman graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bsc in Sports Science, and then went on to complete her MBBch at the University of Witwatersrand in 2010.

Megan has over 10 years experience practicing as a GP, with a special interest in sports and nutrition, however she loves the scope of general practice which focuses not only on health, but also on the dynamics and wellbeing of whole families.

GP DR NICOLA JOHANNSEN

From a young age, Dr Nicola Johannsen knew her future would lye in the medical field.

After graduating from Wits in 2018 with her MBBCh, she completed her internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, and community service in a small, rural district hospital in the Eastern Free State.

These foundation years led her to realise her passion for family medicine and general practice.

GP DR MICAYLA MOHUNLAL

Dr. Micayla Mohunlal joins Premier Health Center as a General Practitioner, working alongside Dr. Castelyn at Premier GP to provide comprehensive care.

With a compassionate approach and a lifelong passion for science, Dr. Mohunlal is dedicated to delivering holistic, patient-centered care that addresses the unique needs of each individual. She earned her MBBCH from the University of Witwatersrand and holds two postgraduate diplomas in HIV Management and Primary Emergency Care, equipping her with a broad range of expertise.

Outside of her clinical responsibilities, Micayla enjoys acquiring new skills and taking long walks in the park with her dachshund. Her dynamic spirit and commitment to community well-being drive her passion for making a positive impact on the lives of her patients.

 

 

DENTIST DR NADINE BEHARI

Dr Nadine Behari graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS) degree from University of Witwatersrand Dental School in 2003. She completed a year of community service in the Eastern Cape before embarking upon work in the private dental sector. She worked in association with a prosthodontist for 12 years before joining the family at Premier Health Centre. Dr Nadine Behari is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the South African Dental Association (SADA) and the Paedodontic Society of South Africa

Caitlin Sassen graduated with honors in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Cape Town and later pursued a Higher Certificate in Pre-school Education. After completing her community service year at Helen Joseph Hospital in 2021, she discovered her passion for working with young children. Since then, Caitlin has worked in private schools throughout northern Johannesburg and at a remedial reading center, where she found a particular interest in literacy and academic skill development. SONOGRAPHER CAROLINE VAN GRAAN

Meet Caroline – Diagnostic Sonographer

Caroline is a highly experienced diagnostic sonographer with over seven years in the field. She specialises in a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including small parts, musculoskeletal (MSK), and cardiovascular assessments.

Her experience spans high-pressure environments such as ICU units during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as working with elite international athletes in Potchefstroom. This has equipped her with the skills to provide thorough, compassionate care to patients from all backgrounds.

Caroline works closely with doctors and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate results and a comfortable experience for every patient. She is passionate about delivering high-quality care and making each patient feel supported and informed throughout the process.

 

 

REGISTERED DIETITIAN MADELIZE VENTER

Madelize Venter is a HPCSA-registered dietitian with a strong clinical background and a special interest in complex medical nutrition therapy. She consults at Premier Health Centre and is also based at Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, where she works as part of a multidisciplinary medical team.

Madelize has two years of clinical experience and plays an active role in oncology and haematology services, including running the haematology unit. Her clinical work includes nutrition support for patients undergoing chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, as well as patients with kidney and liver disease, including patients undergoing kidney and liver transplantation. She also has experience managing gastrointestinal disorders and providing nutrition support to critically ill patients in the ICU setting.

She holds a BSc in Dietetics from North-West University and completed her community service in 2023 at Itemoheng District Hospital and surrounding clinics in Senekal, where she gained experience in both hospital-based and community nutrition care. Madelize has completed the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) training, which focuses on evidence-based breastfeeding support and optimal maternal and infant nutrition.

In addition, Madelize has completed the Treating the Emotional Eater course, which enhances skills in the management of disordered eating. This allows her, in collaboration with a psychologist, to support patients with eating disorders using a structured, compassionate, and evidence-based approach.

Her approach to care is practical, realistic, and patient-centred, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based nutrition education and sustainable dietary change. She works closely with medical teams to ensure nutrition care is fully integrated into each patient’s overall treatment plan.
